These social activist and reformers tried to eradicate the social evil practices from the society and encouraged individuas to do social work for the welfare of the society.

WHY ISSUES ARE ARISING IN THE SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE IN BENGAL

  • Even if social work is rooted in the culture of Bengal's background , but due to lack of professional recognization majority of the people usually thinks that it is not an important subject to study about , people of Bengal thinks that the term " CHARITY" and "SOCIAL WORK " are same .They always thinks that " Charity starts from Home " ; so what is the need to study social work and do field works as donations can also help people for betterment of their lives. People thinks that doing surveys cannot be a subject that should barely be important for their children to learn or study about.
  • As lack of professional recognization occurred so ,Society frequently misunderstood social workers as " volunteers taking charities" and also disrespevt the subject and the Institution. There is a lack of unified licensing and standardized accreditation systems for social workers in India, leading to inconsistent professional standards and varying capacities among practitioners
  • Social work practitioners navigates complex social issues and deep-rooted problems, such as ;one of the highest child marriage rates in the state ,ie; in Birbhum district the highest is the child marriage rate, a severe migration crisis people for better infrastructure and livelihood migrates from rural -to- urban areas, disparities in literacy as; children's are not too interested in studies rather that sitting inside houses and always gives excuses for not going to schools , and poor health indicators, child labour , teenage pregnancy and also inequal treatment to indigenous groups etc.
  • Social Workers often have to navigate and deal with religious conflicts and political disparities.
  • Some people thinks that how a girl can practice social work in the scrotching heat and sunglish its work of boys . Girls should rather take other subjects to study without any field work. As, social work has no such carrers opportunities people think .As absence of a clear national policy or rigid regulatory frameworks makes it difficult to maintain professional standards.
  • Moreover, the common problems are always standing as a barriers for social work globally and also a serious issue in Bengal . Social workers operate at the intersection of deep-rooted societal problems such as poverty, racial disparities, and housing instability, etc. Persistent poverty and inequality fuels and gives rise to complex secondary issues like illiteracy, child labor, and malnutrition, etc. That requires a regular interventions to prevent it.

Along with this issues social workers are regularly fighting with these barriers to promote the social justice , dignity, helping people to develop different stratigies to become self - dependent , encouraging youths , practicing fieldwork and closely working with the community for its development.

HOW CAN WE OVERCOME THESE ISSUES

To overcome the barriers in West Bengal’s social work practices—such as high poverty deprivation, rural-urban disparities, and resource constraints—the region relies on a combination of grassroots mobilization, resource optimization, and structured administrative. We have to apply the classroom theory in the practical fieldwork for community welfare . We have to apply the primary and secondary approaches of social works to overcome these barriers and by internalizing the principles and theories of social work one have to practice field work settings.

  • COMMUNNITY ORGANIZATION: Engaging with local resources and community members to develop self-reliance and achieve grassroots welfare goals. With 75% of Bengal's population residing in rural areas, student social worker should make campaigns or posters and spead awareness and empowering communities and provide efficient solutions.
  • CASEWORK AND GROUPWORK: Providing one-to-one assistance to help individuals cope with structural barriers, and bringing people with similar challenges together to develop mutual support and shared skills and through which they can become self dependent enough to effectivel pay social roles.
  • Social Welfare Administration: Utilizing professional management, budgeting, and fundraising skills to efficiently translate social policy into action within both government and non-governmental frameworks.
  • Social Action: Creating widespread awareness of systemic defects and mobilizing vulnerable populations to advocate for policy changes and legal protections.

Eductional Institutions and NGO'S should work effectively to eradicatate these sociall evils and providing meaning full straties to people to cope with povery . Only by not application of Western Knowledge we should apply the "GANDHIAN PHILOSOPHIES" and "TAGORIAN PHILOSOPHIES" as Bengal has a highly priopritization of them . And also if the social workers gets licsenced for their work them people will more likeliy prioritize them and will not misunderstand as " volunteers taking charity " and will show respect to the academic viewpoint of the social work along with the respect for the institution by this ways the issues can also be reduced in Bengal and can provide citizens with better insights about the Social Work .

CONCLUSION

Social work faces critical operational issues in West Bengal .Along with high caseloads, resource problems , educational degeration and a lack of regulatory undermine professional efficacy. To eradicate these structural barriers, the field demands stronger policy support, standardized curricula, academic liscence and systemic interventions to promote lasting social justice and holistic well-being,dignity to people and resolving social issues requires collective effort, awareness, and to follow principles of social work to promote social justice, collective responsibility, human rights and respect to diversities , and equal opportunities. Because these challenges are deeply ingrained, addressing them effectively demands holistic approaches and the active participation of governments, civil societies, and individual citizens to develop a further bright future.
